“I am enamoured by plants, they dazzle me with their beauty, I try to capture that. Flowers have to be painted quickly, before they wilt - but also to express their energy.’

Jessica is a painter, gardener and garden designer. Her art and horticulture are both fed by a searching curiosity and passion for plants and a love of colour. Her practice is an exploration of traditional oil painting techniques, the symbolism and history of flowers, with a romantic sensibility.

Growing flowers in her garden in the Blue Mountains, and painting them from careful observation, ‘from life’ (without the use of photographs) her painting has become part of a ritual of living close to nature.

She is a past scholarship student of the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney and is a qualified horticulturist and garden designer. She paints in her home studio in the Blue Mountains, Australia, where she lives with her husband Tristan and their dog Basil.
